I’m Sarah, married to Andrew since 2003 and mum to Bee and Jay, two amazing and complex teenagers. They joined our family through the miracle that is adoption in 2008 when they were 4 and 2 years old, respectively. Jay has a diagnosis of autism, however we know he also has attachment disorder, ADHD, memory problems and sensory processing problems. Bee has no formal diagnoses, yet we know she has attachment disorder, dyspraxia, dyslexia and sensory processing problems. I am an undiagnosed autistic currently waiting for an assessment. Currently I have a diagnosis of clinical depression and anxiety but this may well be an incorrect diagnosis. It’s a waiting game. All together we’re a complex bunch but, for the most part, it works. It’s not easy, as life never is, but we love our little family and I will fight to protect it.
Currently I’m studying for a Masters degree in Inclusion and Special Educational Needs via distance learning with the University of Birmingham.
A bit of geek, I’m a Whovian, Trekkie and solo board-gaming fan. Books, movies and music are also important to me and I’m sure I’ll share a bit more about that one day.
I am a self-confessed crazy cat lady. Poppy (below) sadly passed away on Valentine’s Day this year. We will be having two kittens at some point – just not yet.
